Skins Season 1-2

The first season of Skins was definitely the best, in my opinion. The characters were well developed, the cast was fresh, and the storyline was enticing. I started watching Skins on the recommendation of my friend. It is impressing the hell out of me.

Let me give you the DL on the series. It's basically a teenage group of friends who are having a difficult time, and facing life full on. There's Tony, Sid, Cassie, Michelle, Chris, Anwar, Maxxie, Jal, and on some occasions Tony's sister, Effy.

My favorite character, by far, is Cassie. She's so complicated and developed. Watching her is like watching a peeling onion. There's so many layers to her character. She has an eating disorder and perhaps other psychological issues. Initially, I disliked her, thinking she was only an annoying, airheaded junkie. But as the series progresses, you find her to be so much more. And even if I don't have an eating disorder, I find myself relating to her character. Her insecurity with her weight is definitely a concern I share with her. Also, she's got a funky retro sense of style, which I absolutely adore!

Tony is probably the heart throb of the high school. He's clever, well-articulate, attractive, and has an intense case of God-complex. He can be a manipulative asshole, but he genuinely cares about his sister and Sid, which is... interesting.

Anyways, back to the story, Skins is filmed well. The shots are clear, and I find the camera angles very interesting. The story is filled with hard core parties and a shit ton of drugs, touching upon issues of teenage angst and drug abuse.

I think Skins is absolutely wonderful and can do no wrong. The first season was at least...

The second season was a bit dull, even though it was still pretty good. It's actually got a drastic twist, which is Tony's incapability due to the accident. He gets a shit haircut to accompany his new personality. Personally, I think I couldn't enjoy the second season as much, because they completely stripped away Tony's charms. Now, he's just a confused boy who is facing so many hardships, you can't even hate him for the things he did last season.

The good thing about the second season is that Maxxie got more screen-time. Why? Because he has a creepy stalker... who happens to be female... who happens to be the opposite gender of what he's attracted to.

Anyways, I'm going to go ahead and give this series an A-... or a B+. It's got great parts, but some of the stuff I just didn't fancy.

Good shit right here. I'd recommend it to anyone who hasn't watched it yet.
